General FAQ

Why do I need to request a quote for shipping instead of checking out?

We know that shipping in Canada can get pricey and we want our customers to get their order as quickly and most affordably as possible. That's why each quote is looked at individually in order to choose the most efficient packing option possible. We'll then add the shipping cost and get the quote right back to you so you can place your order.

What do I need to include when asking for assistance in choosing the best system for my project?

If you would like help in calculating the amount of material for your project, we will require a sketch of your project with accurate measurements. Please send sketches of the project as it looks when you are facing it and not top down as we can't see doors and windows from this view. If you are screening in an existing area, pictures are extremely helpful.

Can I return unused product?

If you have unused product that can be resold, it may be possible to return it for a refund. The cost of shipping the returned items to us is covered by the customer.

Should I order the exact amount of material needed for my project?

We always encourage our customers to order at least 10% more to account for any errors or cuts that may need to be made. Having to order a few extra pieces if you end up short puts your project on hold and can be costly in shipping.

What can I expect the process to be when I order from Screen Porch Solutions?

Once you have measured the openings for your project and calculated the materials you will need, you will add those materials to your cart on our website. You will then send us your quote, through our website, and we will calculate your shipping costs, add them to your quote and send you an email where you can place your order. We will then pack your order within 1-2 business days and send it on its way to you. Shipping typically takes 5-7 business days.

Original Screen Tight FAQ

Can I install wood lattice instead of the PVC Screen Tight cap?

Yes, you can install stained or painted wood lattice using nails or fasteners of your choosing. If you are wanting black caps, this is the preferred method to achieve that look.

Are the Original Screen Tight caps available in black?

Our caps are not available in black due to the nature of PVC materials and how dark pigments react to the sun's UV rays over time. If you would like a black cap, you can paint wood lattice and install it over the Original Screen Tight base. Our aluminum systems, FASTtrack and MINItrack are available in black.

Does Original Screen Tight come in longer lengths?

Although the base comes in 8' lengths, the cap can be purchased in 80' and160' continunous rolls which covers a longer distance without a seam.

Can Original Screen Tight caps be painted?

Our caps can be painted. The caps need to be cleaned with denatured alcohol and painted with a latex paint. We don't recommend dark colours as the UV rays can be harsh on vinyl.

Can I mount Original Screen Tight on the inside of a porch?

Yes, Original Screen Tight can mounted two ways - facing the interior or exterior of your porch.

Here is a photo of Original Screen Tight mounted facing inward to give you an idea of how it looks:

How many screws do I need to install Original Screen Tight?

You will need about 12 screws per 8 foot length. Add a screw 2 inches from each end and each pre-punched slot. The screen will pull very tight so it's important to put a screw in each of the pre-punched slots so the base is securely attached to the wood framing.

Can I remove the Original Screen Tight cap once installed?

Simply use a flat head screwdriver to pry the cap off at the end. Once it is pulled up, you can remove the rest with your hand. This is a huge advantage over using lattice and staples as it's simple and easy and doesn't rip your screen.

MINItrack FAQ

What colours does MINItrack come in?

MINItrack is available in white, dark bronze and black powder coat finishes, blending in seamlessly with your porch or patio framing.

What screws can you use for MINItrack?

Only MINItrack screw clips can be used for the MINItrack system. The track snaps over the head of the screw clips to hold the track into place.

Does MINItrack need to be mitered?

MINItrack does not need to be mitered. You can cut the spline at the end of each run, then trim the screen. This is the recommended and most common way. Mitering can be done if you need to, but the spline does not need to continue around the corner.

Is MINItrack removable?

MINItrack is removable, but you may not be able to reuse the tracks once removed.

Screen Wall FAQ

Can Screen Wall attach to masonry?

Yes, the Screen Wall system perimeter 1x2 pieces can attach to concrete and/or masonry by using standard masonry screws.

How do I estimate materials for Screen Wall?

Depending on your design, you can simply screen your porch with only the perimeter components which frame in your screened openings.
The 2-in screws attach the perimeter components to the existing load-bearing members. You’ll need 12 screws for each 8-ft length.

Post components create verticals and horizontal rails. The posts attach to the perimeter and other posts using the angle brackets and 3/4-in screws. For each end of a post that meets the perimeter, you will need 2 angle brackets and 8 screws.

For each vertical post that intersects a horizontal post, you will need 4 angle brackets and 16 screws.

If you create a horizontal rail, you may want to install the cellular PVC pickets as well. For each picket, you will need 2 picket brackets and 4 3/4-in screws.

Both the perimeter and post components have built-in spline channels and are compatible with standard flat spline and our super-strong MeshGuard spline.

The beauty cap covers all the angle brackets and screws used to fasten the components. Each post has two channels. For each post, you will need double the amount of beauty caps.

The perimeter component has a single channel. For each perimeter, you only need one beauty cap.

Can I use Screen Wall and MeshGuard together?

Screen Wall cannot be used in conjunction with MeshGuard. Screen Wall and MeshGuard are different systems. MeshGuard is only approved to attach to wood framing.

Is the post component required?

No, depending on your design, you could technically complete your project using only perimeter components.
